Williamsburg Parent Update
This page will be updated when school resumes in the fall.
May 16, 2025
This will be our final Williamsburg Parent Update for the school year. Thank you for being such an important part of the WA community.
Dear Williamsburg Parents,
Congratulations on guiding your student through another year of growth, learning, and personal development. As the semester comes to an end, I often lead my students in a reflection exercise—inviting them to think back to August, remember who they were, and consider how much they’ve learned and changed. It’s a powerful way to recognize how far they’ve come, both in mindset and in their relationships. Most importantly, it reminds them that they are capable of creating real, meaningful change in the world.
As I reflect on the past three years as Headmaster of Williamsburg Academy, I feel deeply grateful. This role has allowed me to grow, build meaningful relationships, and contribute—hopefully in a small but lasting way—to your students’ journeys.
This year, Williamsburg Learning has made significant investments in our private school, and we’re thrilled by the momentum and growth we’re seeing. We’re excited to continue expanding next year as more students and families join our thriving community.
As Williamsburg Academy continues to grow, my role is also expanding. Next year, I’ll dedicate more time to mentoring students in Leadership and Japanese and continue my work as the Leadership Program Leader—roles that I deeply enjoy and believe are central to our mission. To make space for these responsibilities, I’ll be stepping down as Headmaster at the end of the semester. It has been a true honor to serve in this role, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to have been part of your student’s school experience.
With that, I’m excited to share that Renee Smith will be stepping in as the new Headmaster of Williamsburg Academy. Renee is no stranger to our community—she currently serves as our Chief Growth Officer—and brings a wealth of experience and heart to this role. She’s a gifted communicator, a passionate educator, a dedicated homeschool mom, and someone who deeply values relationships. I know she’ll be a wonderful fit, and I’m confident you’ll love working with her. Renee will get the chance to introduce herself more fully in the August Parent Update.
Thank you for your support over the past three years. I look forward to continuing to mentor your students in class next year—what a privilege it is to be part of their journey!
Warmly,
Ross Gilbert
