Williamsburg Parent Update

Dear Williamsburg Academy Parents,

As we approached the holiday break, Renee Smith concluded her tenure as Headmaster of Williamsburg Academy. We are grateful for her service and leadership during her time with the school.

I have been asked to step into the role of Interim Headmaster to support a smooth transition and ensure continuity in our day-to-day operations. All Mentors, Student Support staff, and other team members remain in their roles and continue their dedicated support of our students.

As we move forward, I encourage families and students to contact me directly with any questions or concerns. I also want to emphasize the importance of regular attendance at Mentor Office Hours and Study Labs, as these play a critical role in student success.

We are excited about the progress ahead and remain committed to providing a strong, supportive environment for all students.

Action Items

Middle of Year (MOY) Benchmark Assessments: If your student has not already done so, please work with them this weekend to complete their required Middle of Year (MOY) Benchmarks in Canvas.

These assessments must be completed by Wednesday, January 14, and are used exclusively by our mentors and support teams to guide instruction and support your student’s success. Thank you for partnering with us to ensure these important assessments are completed.

Note: California partner schools and districts have their own MOY Benchmarks. Students enrolled through these partners should complete their school’s assessments instead.

New Williamsburg Family of Schools Website: Our website has a fresh update! We’ve streamlined the experience and moved our curriculum and mentor information to our new Williamsburg Family of Schools website. Take a moment to explore the new site today!

Announcements

WA Course Add/Drop Deadline: Tuesday, January 20, is the final day for students to add, drop, or change a course for the winter semester. If you have questions or are considering a schedule change for your student, please contact our Academic Counselor for support.

Student Tutoring Opportunities: Is your student interested in becoming a tutor? The WA MTSS Team is looking for motivated students to support their peers during Pomodoro and Study Lab tutoring sessions. Interested students should complete our Student Tutoring Interest survey to apply. Thanks for spreading the word!

Winter Back-to-School Night Recording: Our Winter Back-to-School Night was held on Tuesday, January 6. If you missed this fun and informative event, you can still catch up by watching the recording here. It’s a great way to get oriented, hear from Williamsburg team members, and feel confident heading into the new semester.
