The Alabama Education Savings Account (ESA) program, created under the Creating Hope and Opportunity for Our Students' Education (CHOOSE) Act of 2024, provides financial support for families to customize their children's education. Administered by the Alabama Department of Revenue (ALDOR) and facilitated through ClassWallet, the program enables eligible students to use state funding for approved educational expenses, including private school tuition, homeschooling, tutoring, and other learning resources.

The application window for Alabama ESA funds opens on January 2, 2025, and closes on April 7, 2025, so apply now!

Online applications can be submitted through the CHOOSE Act website.

Award Notifications: Starting May 1, 2025

Funding Availability: July 1, 2025

Private School Students: $7,000 on average per student per year when enrolled in a participating private school

Homeschool Students: $2,000 annually with a family cap of $4000 when approved for Alabama’s home education program

At Williamsburg, all students, including those using ESA funds, take the STAR assessment. These assessments help us provide the best academic support tailored to their needs. 

If your state requires norm-referenced testing, the STAR assessment will satisfy that requirement. 

When enrolling for the upcoming school year, you won’t be billed until July 15! You’ll receive four quarterly bills, carefully timed to align with your state’s funding dates—so you’ll never have to pay out of pocket!

For the All-Inclusive Package: On or after July 15, you’ll receive your first quarterly invoice of $1500 for your student’s tuition.

For Individual Courses: On or after July 15, you’ll receive your first invoice for your student’s tuition. The total will vary based on the number and types of courses you select. To estimate your invoice, simply divide your child’s tuition total by four.

Once your invoice is available, you’ll upload it to ClassWallet and manually initiate payment from there.

Here’s a look at the billing cycle:

• July 15th (Invoice Date) → August 14th (Due Date)
• October 15th (Invoice Date) → November 14th (Due Date)
• January 15th (Invoice Date) → February 15th (Due Date)
• April 15th (Invoice Date) → May 15th (Due Date)
