Concurrent Enrollment at Front Range Community College
Williamsburg Academy of Colorado partners with Front Range Community College to provide Concurrent Enrollment (CE) classes for qualified high school students.
Students who participate in our CE program receive both high school and college credits toward industry certificates, 2-year degrees, and 4-year universities—and we cover the tuition!
What are the Qualifications?
To be eligible for CE at Front Range Community College (FRCC), students must meet each of the following criteria:
- Students must demonstrate college readiness as outlined by FRCC and Williamsburg (see Step 4 below).
- Be on track for high school graduation according to our Graduation Plan in Student Information Services (SIS).
- Have an 80% average grade at Williamsburg from the prior semester or have a 3.0 GPA from their former school.
The above criteria help ensure students who are placed in college courses are prepared and ready for this opportunity and challenge. We encourage and welcome students ready for college to join our concurrent enrollment program!
Please have a look at our FAQs on our Concurrent Enrollment page for additional guidelines.
Credits and Courses
Here are a few things to know about credits and courses:
-
How many CE credits can my student take?
Students may take up to 15 concurrent enrollment credits per semester. Students must have approval from a WAC Academic Counselor to take additional credits. We recommend taking a maximum of 2-3 CE courses per semester.
-
Are classes held on campus or online?
Students may take classes in person, real-time remote, or online. Parents must sign a waiver allowing the student to attend courses in person.
-
Which campuses can my student attend?
There are three FRCC campuses students can choose from:
- Larimar Campus
- Fort Collins
- Westminster*
*The Westminster campus will help students who need virtual underage meetings and virtual orientation regardless of where or how they take their classes.
-
What costs are covered for each CE course?
Williamsburg covers the cost of tuition for CE courses. Additional college fees, course fees, supplies, and college textbooks are not covered by Williamsburg.
-
How are grades and credits awarded?
Final Grades for CE courses are recorded on both college and high school transcripts. If a student does not successfully complete a college course or withdraws, the final grade of D, F, or W is recorded on both transcripts.
Note: A final grade of D often does not earn college credit. A college course can be repeated once if not successfully completed the first time.
For CE courses worth 3 to 5 college credits, students receive 1.0 high school credit (equaling two semesters of high school course credit).
For CE courses worth 0.5 to 2 college credits, students receive .5 high school credits (equaling one semester of high school course credit).
Interested in Concurrent Enrollment?
First, review our Concurrent Enrollment page for general guidelines that pertain to all CE students. Then, contact a WAC Academic Counselor for more information.
-
Step 1 - Contact a WAC Academic Counselor
The first thing you’ll need to do is contact a WAC Academic Counselor to review your student's eligibility, including grades and academic standing.
If eligible, they will give you the links to two forms that will need to be completed: Williamsburg FRCC Concurrent Enrollment form and the Front Range Concurrent Enrollment Request form.
-
Step 2 - Complete the Williamsburg and FRCC Forms
Review and submit both the Williamsburg Front Range Community College Concurrent Enrollment form and the Front Range Concurrent Enrollment Request form. Please request the links to these forms from a WAC Academic Counselor if you do not have them.
-
Step 3 - Apply for Enrollment at FRCC
Once we approve your student for concurrent enrollment, they may apply for enrollment at Front Range Community College.
Underage students (15 and younger) must apply at FRCC, meet with an FRCC advisor, and complete placement exams prior to being accepted and approved for classes.
As part of the FRCC application process, you will apply for the College Opportunity Fund. This allows us to pay for your student’s college tuition.
If at any time you have questions during the FRCC application or course registration process, you may reach out to Owen Smiley, the Concurrent Enrollment Coordinator at FRCC.

Step 4 - Meet with a FRCC Advisor | Assess College Readiness
Students participating in concurrent enrollment at Front Range Community College are considered "underage" and must complete an underage waiver as well as demonstrate college readiness. An underage hold may be placed on each student's account upon enrollment. If this happens, FRCC will reach out with next steps.
Students who are 15 or younger must meet with an FRCC advisor prior to registering for courses and this meeting must be attended with a parent.Important details to be aware of:
- Students 15 and younger must meet with our assigned FRCC counselor by Monday, August 14. Meetings must be scheduled one week in advance (no later than August 7). Reach out to a WAC Academic Counselor to request our FRCC counselor's contact information so you can schedule a meeting.
- Students may need to complete Accuplacer placement exam(s) to demonstrate college readiness.
- Students must apply for enrollment at FRCC prior to completing placement exam(s).
Students 16 and older do not have to meet with an FRCC advisor, but will be contacted by the college to complete an underage waiver.
-
Step 5 - Select Courses
Once holds are lifted, please have your student work with their FRCC concurrent enrollment coordinator for any class selection and registration needs. Students are responsible to register themselves for college courses.
Select courses from this list of programs according to your coordinator's recommendations and approval.
All courses must be approved by a WAC Academic Counselor to ensure they align with your student's Williamsburg graduation plan.
-
Step 6 - Request Schedule Approval from Williamsburg
Once your student is registered for courses at FRCC, please send a detailed schedule to our Registrar for approval. For ease, the schedule may be copied directly from your student’s FRCC student portal.
Once we have reviewed your student’s CE courses, we will reach out to let you know if all courses have been approved or if any changes are needed.
-
Step 7 - Attend Welcome Week | Orientation for Students & Parents
Students should plan to attend FRCC's Welcome Week. Though students enrolled in CE will be treated like college students, we suggest parents attend Welcome Week, too. There will be orientation activities for both students and parents.
At this event, you can grab a treat, attend student and parent orientation, and register for classes.
Front Range Community College will let you know when Welcome Week and Orientation will be held.
-
Step 8 - Send Transcript of Final Grades to Williamsburg
When the semester ends, you will need to submit a FRCC transcript of all final grades to our Registrar. Once received, we will add the completed courses to your student’s Graduation Plan in SIS and award the appropriate credits earned toward high school graduation.
